Artist-Inspired Halloween Costume Ideas

Hi friends! Happy Monday! I wanted to share just a fun post today with you guys, as I was browsing the Internet for some halloween costume ideas, and found these really fun art-related costumes. So if you’re looking for a fun costume for halloween, check these out! Click on the picture to be taken to their sources, enjoy!

Roy Lichtenstain’s “Oh Jeff”:

There’s step by step instructions, supplies, and photos to create this entire look for yourself! I think it’s so clever and fun! And the best part is, even if no one “gets” what you’re really dressed up as, they’ll simply think you’re a comic book character or some pop-art/Andy Warhol creation.  So it’s a pretty safe costume if you’re worried that going too “artsy” will leave people not understanding what you’re dressed up as!

…and if you simply want to go the comic book route, there’s this:

It's not a drawing, it's Promise Phan!
It’s not a drawing, it’s Promise Phan!

Promise Phan is popular on YouTube for doing “transformations”, changing herself to look like different famous people, and even your favorite Disney characters. In this video she shows how to make yourself look like a comic book drawing! You can watch the video here:

I’m subscribed to Promise, and I love watching her videos, so as soon as I knew I was going to write this post, I tracked down this video and knew I had to include it!

…so next let’s talk about some adorable baby costumes! I’ve got one for both a little girl and boy.

Frida Kahlo

So cute!

Oh my gosh, how adorable is that little girl?! The website gives full supplies needed to create this look for your little one!

Vincent Van Gogh

This is too cute!

Haha, I love this.  There’s something about putting facial hair on babies that is too funny.  Again, you can click the picture to be taken to the site where you’ll find all you need to make this costume.

So that’s it for now, guys! I hope you got a little kick out of this post, I thought these costumes were so clever! What are you being for halloween?? Let me know in a comment below, and till next time, keep creating!

Art Journal Pen Pal: October!

Hi friends! So this is the start of a new little video series on this channel! I was asked by another artist, Brie, if I wanted to start a little art journal collaboration with her, so each month we’re taking turns creating art journal pages!

Check out Brie’s blog post about it here!
And her YouTube channel here!

So each month we’ll be alternating showing the opening of the book with the other person’s art, and creating out own art for that month. So I will have a video about it every other month, and she will have a video and blog post about it on the opposite months.

The rest is explained in the video, so I’m going to get right to it! My month is October, so I’m doing a little Halloween inspired scene.

I hope you enjoy! Leave a comment, and thanks for watching!

5 Fall Decor Projects Using Craft Pumpkins

Hello friends! Happy Monday! Well it’s almost October, so I thought I’d share some fun and easy home decor craft projects I’ve recently found on Pinterest.  The best part about these crafts is that they use plastic craft pumpkins from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby, so you make them once and can use them for years afterwards!

Click on the pictures to be taken to their sources for full instructions. Enjoy!

Washi Tape Pumpkins

This is such a cute idea! And with all of the varieties of washi tape available, the possibilities are endless!

I love the black and white look of these pumpkins, but they can be done in any colour!

Pumpkin Vase

Cutting the top off a craft pumpkin opens the door to using it as a vase.  This makes a beautiful table centerpiece! You can leave the pumpkin as is, or spray paint it. Maybe a copper pumpkin?

Chevron Pumpkins

These cute pumpkins are made by simply laying down some painter’s tape, painting the entire pumpkin, then peeling the tape away to reveal your stripes! This would look cute as horizontal stripes as well!

Decoupage Photo Pumpkins

What a cute way to mark Baby’s first Thanksgiving or Halloween! This can be done with the entire family’s pictures too! The dog, cat, everyone! A great way to add a personal touch to your home’s fall decorations 🙂

Keeping the photos in greyscale gives an elegant touch to the collage

Glitter Pumpkins

And of course, a craft project roundup is simply not complete without a glitter option 😉  I really like how these pumpkins are not entirely glitter, but look like they were dipped in glitter. Keeping part of the original pumpkin visible allows the pumpkins to look glamorous without being overdone. I also adore the polka dots!!

The white and gold combo is very elegant looking, while still having that autumn vibe.

So that’s all for now, guys! I hope you’ve been inspired to whip up some of your own craft pumpkin treasures. Till next time, keep crating!
