3 Beautifully Stylish Christmas Decorations or Gifts!

Hi friends! Happy Monday! Can you believe it’s only 10 days until Christmas!? That seems so crazy to me.  I don’t feel prepared for Christmas at all.  I have a gift for hubby stuffed underneath a chair in our living room, but I haven’t wrapped it yet and have no idea what I’m getting for anyone else! Anyway, to ease the stress of what to do for the holidays, naturally I gravitated towards procrastinating on Pinterest.  So behold! Three gorgeously stylish Christmas crafts you can make and either keep for your own home or give to someone special.  As always, click the picture to be taken to their original source for all the instructions. Enjoy!

Easy DIY Christmas Trees

Simple and beautiful!

A candle holder from the dollar store or Michaels, a foam floral cone, and some tissue paper, glitter, or ribbon is all you need to make these beautiful decorations!

Spray-Painted Pine Cones

They would be great on a wreath too!

I love the rustic look of pine cones, but they become so much more when they’re done in silver and gold! These pine cones are gorgeous! They look so great  grouped together in a glass container.  Mix them in with similar Christmas balls and you have a beautiful decoration or table centerpiece.

This is equally personal and elegant!

I saved the best for last…this is just so lovely! It’s personal but still super elegant.  The blog even has tips for how to make your photos into strips to make these balls. They can be done in any colour to match your tree.

So that’s it for now, guys! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I will talk to you again soon!

Till next time, keep creating!

DIY Snowglobe Terrarium

Hi friends! So I saw this idea on Pinterest, and wanted to try it out for myself with my own little touches. This craft is super easy and looks really unique! I’ve already gotten compliments on it! It’s sitting happily on my living room coffee table 🙂

Here’s how I made mine, it would be better with white cord Christmas lights, but I couldn’t find them anywhere, so green will have to do.

So I hope you enjoy, and thanks for watching!

3 Awesome Crafts from an Old Book

Hi friends! Happy Monday!

Today I wanted to share with you three beautiful craft ideas using old book pages.  I love old books, and enjoy going to the thrift store to buy really old-looking romance novels, then using the pages in my mixed media paintings. The class and antiqued feel that old book pages give is something irreplaceable, so here’s three great uses for those dusty gems sitting on the shelf (as always, click the picture to be taken to the original website with full instructions).

Book Page Wreath

Use old book pages to make this striking, shabby-chic wreath!  I think this would look amazing in an office or quiet reading area, or even in a formal living room.  It obviously can’t be put outside, but hanging this wreath on a wall next to some black and white photos would really look lovely.

Cute Owl Sculpture

So basically I almost died when I saw the extreme cuteness that is this little owl.  How adorable will this look sitting on a book shelf!? This actually comes from a list of other book page crafts, so be sure to check out the website for more ideas.  The owl is actually for sale in an Etsy shop, but looking at the picture, I don’t think it would be too hard to figure out the shapes needed and cut them out of the page, then gluing them together. This owl was waaayy too cute to NOT put on my blog anyway.  🙂

Mixed Media Wall Art

And of course this is what I like to use old book pages for!  But this artwork is given in a full tutorial, so it’s definitely more of aDIY project than an intimidating art project.  Just rip up pages of the book and glue them all down with mod podge or gel medium to a canvas, then once it’s dry just paint a silhouette overtop!  You can even just use a stencil you can find in craft store for painting on your walls.  Put that overtop the collage and voila! Instant unique wall art you can take full credit for!

So that’s it guys, what are your favourite things to do with old book pages!?

Pinspiration Monday: 5 DIY Spring Projects

Hi friends!  So I was on Pinterest over the weekend and I found an awesome little collection of 5 easy DIY projects for spring.  These crafts will get both you and your home in a happy spring mood, and best of all they’ll let you keep lots of cash in your pocket! They’re all very cheap and simple, so let’s get to it! As always, you can click on the picture to be taken to the full instructions at their respective blog origins.  Enjoy!  🙂

Blooming Vase (Anthropologie Hack)

This vase is so cute, and all you need to do is make a flower our of clay (the instructions show to make one out of air-dry clay, but polymer clay can be used just as easily) and gluing the finished flower onto a vase.  Buy a cheap one from the dollar store and pour craft paint on the inside, swirl it around, and voila! a coloured vase of your choice.

These vases are for sale from Anthropologie, but this DIY version is MUCH MUCH easier on the wallet.  Try making the orchid from my orchid pendant tutorial for this vase!

These cute vases are as easy a gluing a clay flower onto a dollar store vase...literally.

Elegant Sharpie Mugs

The Sharpie mug has been done to death by now, I know.  But these mugs have taken it to the next level.  The creator was inspired by a fancy mug she saw at Anthropologie and decided to put her Sharpie skills to the test to recreate her own version (and at $10 per mug for the originals, she saved herself a ton of cash).

So hop to the dollar store and grab a set of 4 plain mugs, then get creative! This pretty floral pattern is perfect to welcome the warm spring afternoons with a cup of celebratory coffee.

We've all seen the Sharpie mug DIY by now, but these mugs are taking it to the next level!

Fruity Welcome Mat

This mat is so adorable! And all it takes is a plain old circle welcome mat cut in half and some spray paint. The best part is that one plain circle welcome mat will yield two fruit slice mats, so you automatically have one for both your front and back door! Or if you’re in an apartment, you get one for yourself, and either one for a friend or for the inside of your door!

The creator of this mat has made a watermelon and a lemon slice mat, but the lemon mat can easily be a lime, orange or pink grapefruit mat by simply changing the spraypaint color.  You could also try making a kiwi instead of the watermelon too! Or even half of a banana slice…the options are virtually limitless, what’s your favourite fruit?

Welcome springtime, literally, with a juicy welcome mat!

DIY Spring Flower Pot Pendant

This pendant is so adorable…it’s like bringing a little bit of spring with you wherever you go! The little wooden flower pot can be found at craft stores in the woodworking section, and with a bit of chain and some faux moss, dried flowers, or whatever your want to put in your pot, you’ve got yourself a unique little pendant for spring!

DIY Heart Pillow (Anthropologie Hack)

Another cheaper alternative to Anthropologie, this heart pillow isn’t necessarily pure spring, but it could be  made more spring-like by drawing little doodles of flowers and cutting those out instead of the heart shapes.

This pillow is adorable, and the doodle nature of the hearts lends itself to swapping out hearts for other doodles like flowers, clouds, suns, moons, whatever your heart desires!

So that’s all for now, guys! What do you think of these spring projects? Are you going to try one this coming weekend?
