Pinspiration Monday: Stencil Magic

Hi friends! For this Pinspiration Monday, I’ve found a couple really cute pins that are super easy to do, and look great!

Using a pattern (or in this case a sheet of music), cover your pattern with a removable sticker.  This can be a simple design (like a wall sticker) or it could be sticky letters to form your favourite song lyric or quote.  Then paint over the whole thing with craft paint (or whatever acrylic paint you have). and remove the stickers.  Voila! Instant wall art for your home!

I really like the idea of using an old painting from a thrift shop.  You can even find some with beautiful ornate frames!  Paint the frames matte white or black, or super glossy white, black, even grey, to match your decor.  Then repeat the same steps with the painting itself, and you’ll have unique, expensive-looking wall art for your home!  I love the colours that show through from the landscape painting…I’m adding this to my list of crafting to-do!

Waaaaay cheaper than buying subway art from a department store, and more personal!  You have the control to use whatever quote or pattern you want!  Use an inspirational quote, a funny lyric, a verse from your wedding vows, from the Bible, from a childhood storybook (would be awesome in a nursery…maybe a quote from the original Winnie the Pooh books?).  The possibilities are endless!

So let’s go to the thrift shop and buy some old paintings…♥ they will look incred-i-ble! ♥ (Sorry I’ve had that song stuck in my head for the past 2 weeks!!)

Have fun and keep creating!
