Hi guys! Today I wanted to share with you a new series of videos I’ll be starting next month! This is going to be an ongoing series that I’ll do a video for every now and then, similar to our Lucky Dip videos.
A while ago I mentioned in a blog post that I was thinking about doing a post or video about my current favourite art-related books, and many of you liked the idea. So I started going through my favourite books and thinking about why I liked them, and then realised that my list of favourite books was going to be a long one. So instead of just making a big list or a long video and just mention the names of the books, I thought a better idea would be to make the books into a new series of videos!
This way I can feature one book at a time and really get into why it’s a book I love. It also leaves room for growth as I love getting new books, and it’ll keep me motivated to read new books. So this series isn’t really a book review series, as I’m not going to feature a book I didn’t like. So maybe we’ll call it a book club of sorts. How about the ABC – Art Book Club. Has a nice ring to it 🙂 Or even Ashley’s Book Club as it still fits the ABC thing. Whatever.
The books I’m going to feature will range from books discussing art theories, styles, and techniques to step-by-step workbooks that actually get you drawing in the book, to resource books that are full of inspirational pictures, colour palettes, and even royalty free images that you can take and use in your own artworks. I think a nice big all-encompassing range of art books will make this series really fun, and of course if any of you have already read the book I feature, I welcome your own opinions of what you liked and maybe even didn’t like about the book. And if there’s a book that you’ve read that is similar to the book I feature, then by all means share it in the comment section so others (and myself!) can look it up. I really want it to be a community thing, a great sharing of resources that can make us all better artists 😀
So I hope you’re looking forward to it! Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great weekend, and till next time, keep creating!
