Today I want to introduce to you a very special someone…the newest member of my family and my little furbaby, Luna!
Even with a baby on the way, my husband and I decided that our household still just felt…a bit empty since we lost Ebony last summer. So I had started looking around for a puppy in January. For some reason, I kept coming across black labs, and while they were indeed undeniably adorable, it just didn’t feel right. I kept seeing puppies and young dogs that looked exactly like Ebony…now part of that might have been me seeing her in them, but she was a very petite, small-framed lab, with a slim head, not like the many thick-jawed labs I always saw around when I had her. Maybe it’s because i just didn’t notice before or not…I don’t know. But I knew that the puppies I was seeing just weren’t the right fit.
I even saw an ad on Kijiji for…get this: I saw an ad for a young black lab that needed to be rehomed. I wasn’t really sold on the idea of getting the exact same breed as my previous dog again, but I thought if there was a dog in need then maybe I should. So I clicked on the ad and read it…and the dog’s name was Ebony. I was actually in tears after I read the ad, and stopped looking for a new puppy for a while.
Then, last week, I got the feeling that I should start browsing websites again, I just had a feeling that if I didn’t I’d miss a good opportunity. So I browsed the humane society website, a local dog rescue, and came back without anything that felt right. Then I looked on that dreaded Kijiji again, and I found….Luna.
Luna was the result of an accidental pregnancy of a husky, who somehow got tangled up with a brown lab, and, well…stuff happened. So the pups needed a loving, forever home. I saw Luna’s picture, and she just stood out to me among her brothers and sisters, so I arranged for us to go see her.
We brought her home that day. I got that feeling…that, click, that this was right.
I just think it`s perfect that she half lab, half husky (I’m calling her a labsky). Something familiar, something new. I`m seeing the lab side come out of her in certain situations, with her lovey-dovey cuddling and her little whiney sounds. But then every now and then she`ll throw her head back and try her best to howl…the husky coming out of her!
She`s adjusting well for only being home for 2 days…currently she is learning the ins and outs of housebreaking, and is getting used to us while we`re learning about her and her personality. I can`t wait to get to know this little furball more, and I know this is the start of true puppy love.
So I`ll leave you all with some more pictures of Luna on her first day here, and thanks for stopping by!
I’ve been taking some video here and there of her, and will edit it together and post a short little video about her next Saturday.

See you next time!
